Too little tension and your tying materials will not stay in place on the hook. A good fly tying bobbin will allow precisely controlled tension of the thread spool. Barrel tips have to be smooth and free from burrs or rough edges. Bobbins that are not smooth will damage the thread. Bobbins with ceramic barrels or barrel tips are the smoothest and will outlast steel or brass.

Griffin fly tying bobbins are made with high quality stainless steel tubes and limbs. Each bobbin is highly polished to remove all burrs and rough edges. All bobbin beads are made from nylon to insure the smoothest gliding spools possible. The inner diameters of all bobbins tubes is 1/16" for easier threading and less was buildup.
